Very touching and funny at the same time, it draws the story of Hazel, a sixteen year-old teenage girl who has cancer.
She says "(her) lungs suck at being lungs", but her heart beats fast whenever she sees Augustus Waters. A year older than her, this sweet and good-looking guy (who has recovered from a tumor in his leg) has fallen head-over-heels for her.
However, Hazel doesn't want to be "a grenade" and hurt him, because she knows she's going to die young and leave him alone in the sorrow. Therefore, she tries to fight her feelings to stay in the "friend zone".
But Gus is determined to win her heart and doesn't care if he's going to be hurt, so he tries his best to achieve Hazel's biggest dream: meeting the author of her favorite book, who lives in Amsterdam.
Due to the mix of funny AND deep dialogues, I think this book is one of the best.
I love the message that it sends: true love can fight anything - 9.5/10.
